UNLOCKING THE SPV
1) Leave in the SD card (slows some bits down, giving better
success rate)

2) Make sure you've got an ActiveSync partnership running
3) Open a Windows Explorer window to ....
"My Smartphone/Windows"
... and leave it there
4) Copy out mxipcold_oem_10.provxml and mxip_oem_10.provxml
Note - Can't find them ? You may need to change a setting your PC.
Go to "Control Panel" on your PC, click "Folder
Options" - Click the "View" tab and click the relevant
boxes to SHOW hidden files and system files. You should now be
able to find the files!
4a) If you don't have both of these files then you must have
the new update - look instead at the
5) Edit BOTH of these two files as follows:
5a) Remove the SecurityPolicy section ..
5b) Instead insert:
<characteristic type="SecurityPolicy">
<parm name="4101" value="64"/>
<parm name="4102" value="1"/>
<parm name="4119" value="196"/>
</characteristic>
6) Open a second explorer window looking at the copies that
you've just edited (stored on your own PC harddrive)

11) Once it's finished doing that (takes a while), it will say
PASSED. Left twice and choose 3 to close the diags..
12) On the three colour Canary screen, pull the battery out.
Wait a few seconds then pop it back in and start up normally.
13) Arrange the two explorer windows and the ActiveSync window
on screen so you can see them all.
14) Once you're into the blue SmartPhone logo screen, wait a
few seconds and put the phone in it's cradle.
15) Activesync should see the phone after about 20 seconds.
Once it's made it's connection, copy the two PROVXML file(s) into the
/windows explorer window you had open. The
timing of the moving of the edited files is very critical – ENSURE
that you copy them across as soon as possible after ActiveSync has
connected.
Note - stuck here ? Try the auto-copying
tool to do this for you!
16) Wait a while
17) Go into Internet Explorer and see if the favourite link is
as you changed it. If none of the orange ones are there at all, go
back to the home screen and wait longer and repeat.
Check that the files have changed all the way through and that this
bit ....
<characteristic type="SecurityPolicy">
<parm name="4101" value="64"/>
<parm name="4102" value="1"/>
<parm name="4119" value="196"/>
</characteristic>
...appears in both. If not, don't worry - do step 18..
18) Check if it's worked by installing some non-certified
software (see main page).
